8. Leaves turning beautiful shades of orange, red, brown and gold

7. Snuggling under a quilt and drinking hot cocoa

6. Gaining one extra hour of sleep

5. The hint of winter in the air

4. The sun has a special golden hue upon rising and setting

3. The attentive ant hurrying to and fro

2. The smell of fall in the air

1. Stepping on fallen leaves and listening to them crunch

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.

OH!!I really miss our big tree that was out in the front yard at the other house. I always loved raking up the leaves and letting the kids play in them. You think the people that live there now would let us go play in the front yard for a while? We don't have any trees yet! But I do love the sunrises. My favorite thing about fall is high school football, snuggling up with a blanket and a thermos of hot chocolate.

I love all the things you mentioned and...carving pumpkins, hayrides, bonfires, sitting around the fire visiting with friends, star-gazing, roasting hotdogs, making s'mores, early morning walks, and the cool air filling my lungs.

Dixie, I have never lived in a house with big trees, but my mansion in heaven will have lots of big trees with lots of crunch leaves.

nb, I love all these things too. Maybe you and I are kindred spirits?

Oh, I also love leaving the windows open all day long and feeling the wind on my face.

I love your list. I would add Friday night football, having to add covers to the bed, and just the smell of the changing seasons.

Fall is James' favorite time of the year. I enjoy it for all of your reasons and the others mentioned here. Thank you for this simple post that causes me to just soak up the moment of the season and feel blessed.
